Sonatest, the world class ultrasonic flaw detectors' manufacturer, this year celebrates it's 60th birthday! Therefore it wants to introduce an innovative and advanced technology FMC-TFM, the technique for exceptional data collection (by using an array probe) and imaging, making all the results even more accurate and boosting up the image resolution.
FMC (Full Matrix Capture) is a technique whereby every element of a Phased Array probe is individually pulsed to generate sound that is received on every element including the transmitter. Thus, an A-scan is collected from every combination of transmitting and receiving elements across a specified range.
TFM (Total Focusing Method) is an imaging technique applied to the FMC dataset. This imaging algorithm, done in postprocessing, uses the A-scan data from all elements to make virtual focusing on every point.
FMC-TFM is a cutting-edge technology, which:
From April 2018, Sonatest is proud to announce that the VEO+ platform offers Full Matrix Capture (FMC) recording and Total Focusing Method (TFM) imaging technologies to its existing and growing customer base. This complementary inspection technique is a significant addition to an already high value, high-performance toolbox. This also shows how the platform has evolved since its introduction in 2016 and confirms the VEO+ as a smart and future-proof asset for NDT professionals.
